Poem

VOYAGE TO WHERE THERE IS NO SUFFERING

Photo BC coastline (c) K.E. Smith 2013
by Karen E. Smith (c)2010 for Erin Palamar RIP

This sad day of launch
into the next
in waves of memory
we read her final words
that give us release

"Do not be sad for me as I am going home
to meet My Maker where there is no suffering."

Pray, recall opalescence
she urges us
to carry that twinkle
from the lighthouse of her which is
left at the bottom of our hearts

For, ... those who die young
are those
that have formed pearls in our hearts
of the deepest love
that have passed those pearls on
to us
as the gift of forever
which floats

                   mellifluously

at the bottom of the
ocean's
soul.

I wrote this poem for my younger colleague at St. John's College who passed away from breast cancer. She will be remembered as a kind and loving person. She is always in our hearts as a great example of what a loving person is like. RIP Erin.
